Visits at the DKKV office
Since the beginning of 2018, various delegations from Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Fiji and South Korea have visited us at the DKKV office in Bonn to learn more about disaster prevention in Germany, DKKV and its members.
You can find out more about the visits below.
Delegation from China
On 30 October 2019, DKKV welcomed a delegation from the Chinese Ministry of Emergency Management. In addition to the DKKV's fields of work and the projects carried out, the 25 representatives were introduced to THW's structure and areas of responsibility. In addition to the visit of the DKKV, an information event at the BBK was on the programme for the delegation.
Furthermore, the DKKV was able to welcome a delegation from the Shanghai emergency management bureau on 28 November 2019.
Delegation from South Korea
A delegation from South Korea visited us on 19 June 2019. The 22 participants were invited by the Korea Standard Association to Germany to learn about disaster risk management. As the participants hold leading positions in companies operating critical infrastructures (electricity and gas suppliers), the participants were interested in an overview of German actors in disaster control and especially in the topic of KRITIS.
The staff of the DKKV office and Chris Hetkämper of TH-Cologne presented not only the DKKV and the German disaster control system, but also the latest results of the DESKRIS and KIRMin projects.
Delegation from Fiji Islands
A delegation from the Fiji Islands visited DKKV on 2 May 2018. Representatives from the municipal administration, the construction and environment ministries visited the DKKV and some institutional members of the DKKV such as the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), the Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Cologne Municipal Sewage Works (StEB) to learn from their expertise.
As the Fiji Islands are already threatened by climate change, it was also necessary to identify cooperation opportunities in the fields of disaster prevention and early warning systems, but also climate change adaptation measures.
Delegation from Sri Lanka
On 10 April 2018, we welcomed a six-member delegation from Sri Lanka to the DKKV office. Representatives from the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources Management, the Ministry of Disaster Management and experts from the fields of flood risk management and civil engineering visited DKKV to gain an insight into disaster prevention and disaster management in Germany. The background to the event was the Federal Government's visitor programme. Within this framework, the German embassies and consulates general invited experts and multipliers to Germany on fact-finding trips. In the context of this fact-finding trip, the guests were to be given an insight into flood risk management and disaster prevention in Germany.
Delegation from Myanmar
On 16 March 2018, a delegation from Yangon, Myanmar was welcomed at the DKKV office. The delegation from Yangon's Urban Planning Department is currently working on a BMBF project on "Multiple Risks in Yangon". The project deals with the prevention and management of earthquakes, floods and tropical cyclones. In this context, a bilateral link is to be established between the megacity of Yangon and the Cologne-Bonn area. To this end, members of the city administration visited institutions in the Bonn region to learn about conceptual and empirical examples from the field of disaster preparedness and to promote mutual learning. For this purpose, employees of the office presented the DKKV, current projects and important organisations in disaster prevention.
