09th to 15th of July, 2023
Are you studying Earth-, Engineering- or Social Science and are you keen on learning more about Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)? Then join our Summer School on Disaster Risk Reduction this Summer!
Disasters are complex phenomena which increasingly tackle our daily lives now and in the future. Thus, it becomes more and more important to have well-informed and trained people to mitigate the social, infrastructural, and economic challenges due to disaster risks. Disaster Risk Reduction touches upon every professional field in its own way. It does not matter if you are an ecologist, an engineer, a teacher, or a sociologist – you can contribute to a more resilient society!
Together with the Environmental Campus of UAS Trier the DKKV organizes a one-week summer school, where you will learn the basics of disaster risk management and disaster risk prevention as well as explore the topics in real life during different field trips, e. g. to the Ahr Valley or to the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) in Bonn. The course program consists of five modules that are inspired by the stages of the disaster risk management cycle: prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.
Further information about the Summer School, the course program and how to apply are provided here. Applications deadline: April 1st 2023
