E-learning Course: Making cities resilient: Developing local disaster risk reduction and resilience strategies

09.11.2020 - 12.02.2021
The course is organized by the UNDRR GETI and UNITAR. It takes approximately 4h/week and you will get a certificate after finishing.

As urbanization progresses, more and more people are living in areas that are at high risk of natural hazards. The problem is that, especially in developing countries, the consequences of hazards have hardly been considered in the planning and development of cities, which makes the people even more vulnerable.

The course is seperated in six modules:
1. Disaster Risk Reduction concepts and Introduction to Current Trends in Urban Risk
2. Implementing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015 - 2030)
3. Introduction to Making Cities Resilient (MCR) Campaign Tools
4. DRR Assessment and Analysis Tools
5. Mainstreaming DRR into sectoral Programmes for Socio-Economic Development
6. Developing, Implementing, Monitoring and Evaluating Safe and Resilient Action Plans
