Online Training Course on “Making Cities Resilient" #2

The E-Learning Course on the topic "Making cities resilient: Developing local disaster risk reduction and resilience strategies" is organized by the Global Education and Training Institute of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR GETI) in cooperation with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).

The aim of the course is to strengthen the capacities of government professionals to design and implement plans and programmes that reduce disaster risk and enhance resilience. It is seperated in 6 modules and takes approximately 4 hours of learning time per week. All participants completing at least 70% of this training will receive a Certificate of Participation.

There will be ten online-events with international scientists and experts on climate change, community-based DRR, environment and ecosystems, governance, risk identification and assessment and more.

Daring Cities - The Global Virtual Forum for Urban Leaders Taking on the Climate Emergency

Daring Cities 2020 bietet ein Online-Angebot von hochrangigen und visionären Vortragsveranstaltungen, eine Reihe von informativen Workshops und Möglichkeiten zum persönlichen Networking. Daring Cities zeigt und katalysiert beispielhafte lokale Klimaschutzmaßnahmen zur Bewältigung der Klimakatastrophe, einschließlich ehrgeiziger Bemühungen zur Stärkung der Widerstandsfähigkeit und zur Eindämmung des Klimawandels.

Die Veranstaltung "Supporting Resilience in Accomodation Services" am 27.10.2020 um 9:30 Uhr wird sich auf unser gemeinsames Projekt mit dem GIDRM und Hotel Resilient zum widerstandsfähigen Tourismus konzentrieren, bei dem wir Hotels und Resorts beim Katastrophenrisikomanagement und bei der Anpassung an den Klimawandel unterstützen.

Webinars and Workshop by HIWeather

HIWeather is a research project by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) that develops warning capabilities for weather-related hazards to increase resilience worldwide.

Its annual event, this year online, consis of of 5 weekly webinars starting in on the 26th October. They are followed by a workshop, which takes place from the 1st to the 3rd December and focuses on citizen science, end-to-end warning case studies and next generation warnings.

The registration closes on the 30th September.

Humanitarian Congress Berlin 2020

1 - 8 PM

The congress is organized by Médecins Du Monde, the German Red Cross, the Berlin Chamber of Physicians and Médecins Sans Frontières, with Greenpeace and Oxfam as partners. Due to the current pandemic this year’s programme will revolve around the theme "Exposing Power & Privilege in Times of Crisis".

There will be international speakers with interesting presentations. The congress aims to provide a platform for the exchange of experience, knowledge and ideas on humanitarian work in an international and multidisciplinary framework.
